A FRESH SET OF FOUR FRENCH CHAIRS

We discovered these armchairs in the corner of a market in Isle-Sur-La-Sorgue where the antiques are typically expensive and overly fancy. More formal than our typical taste, the skin of burlap, original stuffing and castors, and expertly carved curvaceous arms were too hard to resist.

They are Louis XV in style, but could they really be from a refined 1700’s interior of a Parisian bourgeoisie? It’s possible, but impossible to prove. What we do know is that a fresh coat of stain and new linen upholstery have left us with a rare set of four slightly wicked French armchairs.
