Burmese Giltwood Table Shrine

Stunning craftsmanship went into creating this intricately relief and pierced carved shrine, which is the uppermost segment of a much taller, multi-tiered structure. From the flame-form finials surmounting the center altarpiece, to the floral motif carved wings flanking the mensa (or altar slab) and tendril patterned predella steps this piece is an incredible work of art. Used for worshiping Buddha, it is elegantly finished in red lacquer and gold leaf.
