Chinese Acupuncture Model | c. 1940

A traditional form of Chinese medicine still practiced today all over the world, records of acupuncture practice date back as far as 100BC. It is most commonly used in the treatment and alleviation of pain by centering and restoring the balance of life force energy (also know as “qi”/”chi”) that flows through meridians of the body. This hand-carved doctors model has tiny holes notched throughout—creating a roadmap of the human body—outlining the acupuncture meridians, which are labeled with hand painted characters detailing the descriptions of the bodies target points.
