The Chicago Botanic Garden Antiques & Garden Fair Show was a success! Here are a few snap shots from the opening night.
Looking for something midcentury? Unusual botanical art? Inspiration for your own garden? The Antiques & Garden Fair is a great resource, with more than 120 exhibitors from all over the country (plus England) and treasures to be found in every price range. Come join us at the Chicago Botanic Garden as The Golden Triangle will be one of the exhibitors in the Antiques & Garden Fair.
Treasure hunting in style! It amazes us every year to see how the galleries and halls of the Regenstein Center are transformed by the vendors' booths. Tents over the Esplanade, Krasberg Rose Garden, and Runnells and Searle Courtyards increase the Fair space to a fun-to-explore 21,600 square feet.

The Golden Triangle is having an Architectural Oddities sale. If you've ever been to the back room in this magnificent Asian and European antiques store then you know there are some amazing gems from which to choose. "I've held on to some of these pieces for 15 years, waiting for that special project—do you have one?" owner Doug Van Tress asked on Facebook the other day. Van Tress himself makes very cool Mondrian-inspired art out of old printers' trays he buys in Burma (he paints blocks of wood in bold colors and fits them into the large grids; see photo above). At the sale, find 100-year-old British Colonial Raj remnants, salvaged elements of Thai houses, and lots of teak pieces that can be repurposed.

MADE IN CHICAGO was a terrific success. Over 250 guests mingled with local artists, interior designers, furniture makers, and members of the media. For The Golden Triangle, it was the first time the store had emphasized local, Chicago-made products and blended them in with Asian and European antiques. The result was an original and stimulating combination of elements that attracted much favorable comment. The full show will be up for just three weeks, but Chicago-made furniture and art will be a part of the store's inventory from now on.
