Impressive French Dormer Window Frame

Derived from the French word “dormir” (to sleep), dormer windows originated in 17th century Paris. Windows were added to these protruding structural elements to provide ventilation and allow in natural light. Dormer windows are most notably seen in Mansard style roofs designed by French Baroque architect François Mansart. This handsome piece was salvaged from a horse barn in the French countryside. The wood frame is original, while the glass was replaced with mirrors. It makes a fine headboard or wall hanging.
