Indian Woodblock Stamps on Stands | c. 1920

Used to decorate textiles, these small wood blocks are hand carved in various patterns. After having a design traced on the flat surface, the excess wood is chiseled away around the outline to create negative space. The relief carved block is then dipped in or rolled with ink, dye or paint and pressed onto the stretched fabric. Sizes vary; each is uniquely carved with various motifs—from geometric and abstract to floral and animal—and some still retain pigments from their original use. Individually they brighten any shelf or table top, and display handsomely in a group or individually. Sizes, patterns, and shapes may vary. Price is for each.
