Pair of Art Deco "Streamline" Chairs With Hardwood Arms and Legs

These handsome French Art Deco "streamline" chairs date to the 1940s and features a hardwood frame and original mohair upholstery. The hardwood arms and feet, probably Rosewood bleached by exposure to sunlight, are in original, un-restored condition but can be stained and lacquered to suit the customer's preferences. This restoration service is included in the price. Replacement of the mohair is available for an additional charge. The original springs and supports are likewise original and can be retained or replaced for an additional charge. The chairs are unusually simple and elegant and would lend themselves to full restoration. They fit virtually any style of decor.

Many French Art Deco pieces feature wood veneers that, although beautiful, are highly susceptible to damage through normal use. They can also be very difficult to repair in a satisfying manner. These chairs, in contrast, feature solid hardwood, which is more durable and relatively easy to restore. The fact that the wood is not walnut and probably an imported exotic, suggests a premium workshop built them.
