Chinese Oxblood Lacquer Cabinet

This handsome piece is designed after sloping-stile or tapered round-corner cabinets, whose A-frame silhouette is often considered to be one of the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing forms of Chinese furniture. Splayed legs create upward movement through the gently angled body, which joins the flat, overhanging top—called a cabinet’s cap. The doors feature circular metal lock plates with raindrop pulls and conceal a storage compartment with removable shelf. Given the compact rectangular shape and size it also makes a wonderful side chest or, if desired in a pair, nightstands. Constructed with some pieces of reclaimed wood (salvaged from incomplete or damaged antiques), the piece was built using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. There are no nails to fasten, secure or attach the parts and joints, just like the classic furniture it is modeled after. Price reflects single piece in measurements listed below.
