Pair of Chinese Round-Corner Cabinets

This pair is designed after sloping-stile or tapered round-corner cabinets, whose A-frame silhouette is often considered to be one of the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing forms of Chinese furniture. Splayed legs create upward movement through the gently angled body, which joins the flat, overhanging top—called a cabinet’s cap. Below the pair of drawers, two doors with metal lock plates conceal a storage compartment with removable shelf. Given their compact rectangular shape and size, they also make wonderful side chests or nightstands. Constructed with some pieces of reclaimed wood (salvaged from incomplete or damaged antiques), these pieces were built using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. There are no nails to fasten, secure or attach the parts and joints, just like the classic furniture it is modeled after.
