Spanish Baroque Style Armchair

Left in its original condition, this stately armchair with horsehair filling is a masterpiece in the tradition of Spanish Baroque Design. Traces of florid gilt embellishments are still detectable on the chair’s back and finials. Elsewhere, clawed feet, acanthus leaves, spindles, and heavy studwork further contribute to a look that is both dramatic and extravagant to behold. The high style of 17th century Europe lives on in this extraordinary historical artifact. This ancient armchair dates to the 1700’s and is made from Walnut and leather. The organic grass seat stuffing appears to be original and there is no evidence that the chair has ever been restored. It is a true “fossil” of history with every marker of age contributing to its exceptional patina. Meant to be viewed, not used! Obviously it’s condition is original (poor) and there is some worm damage to the feet, badly cracked leather and etc.
